Movie Review: London Has Fallen (2016)

Movie Title:  London Has Fallen
Release Date: 4 March 2016
Genre: Action, Crime, Thriller
Director: Babak Najafi
Stars: Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman
IMDB Rating: 6.5

Storyline:

In London for the Prime Minister's funeral, Mike Banning discovers a plot to assassinate all the attending world leaders.

My Rating: 6.5/10

My Review: No US Presidents in history has been this unluncky!

If I was the President of the Murrica, after the events of this movie, I would resign on my own will. After the success of Olympus Has Fallen, the production company must have thought "Hey, they did 3 Taken movies with Liam Neeson. Why not another Olympus Has Fallen? But this time with more Presidents!"

This film is indeed a repetition of the first movie. I have to admit that the movie has really good action sequences and the dialogue funny at times. But the overall mold of the movie is similar as Olympus has fallen. A president, CHECK. A bodyguard, CHECK. A mole, CHECK. Now that's what I call easy cash in.

The movie is rated 18SG but I don't understand why. It is your basic everyday action movie. I don't know how a few F-bombs and bullet wounds gets it rated 18SG. This is a movie that everyone might just want to skip and hope a third installments never happens! (Yes I'm referring to the resignation letter scene!)

Movie Review: The Finest Hours (2016)

Movie Title: The Finest Hours
Release Date: 29 January 2016
Genre: Action, Drama, History
Director: Craig Gillespie
Stars: Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster
IMDB Rating: 7.1

Storyline:

The Coast Guard makes a daring rescue attempt off the coast of Cape Cod after a pair of oil tankers are destroyed during a blizzard in 1952.

My Rating: 7.3/10

My Review: The ocean is a scary place!

It is surprising that this is a Disney movie. The movie is based on a true story of the rescue mission of two oil tankers that was destroyed at sea during a very bad blizzard in the 1952. The movie has a very slow beginning as it introduces the characters before any of the action starts.

The storyline is very emotional and the action was nerve wrecking. It reminds you of how small and powerless we are compared to the vast ocean. The story focuses on two stories, the ship crews and the coast guards. The movie shows the dedication of the coast guards to rescue the victims of the tankers and the perseverance of the tanker crews to buy time for the rescue to arrive.

The movie has very few experienced actors but still provide the a powerful emotional roller coaster. This movie definitely honors the coast guards involved in the actual rescue mission in 1952. This movie will remind everyone how much sacrifice our fellow soldiers and public servants gives to ensure we get to live a better tomorrow

The movie may not be the most awaited movie of the year, but it is a good movie nonetheless. I suggest those with cash to spare and are bored to go and watch this movie.

Movie Review: Deadpool (2016)

Movie Title: Deadpool
Release Date: 11 February 2016
Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
Director: Tim Miller
Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J Miller
IMDB Rating: 8.8

Storyline:

A former Special Forces operative turned mercenary is subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopting the alter ego Deadpool.

My Rating: 8.5/10

My Review: Chimi-Fucking-Changa!!!

This is one of the most awaited movie of the year. This is 20th Century Fox's attempt to fix that FUCKED UP Deadpool from X-Men Origins: Wolverine and what a success!!! Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as the rebooted Deadpool with great success similarly to how RDJ is Tony Stark. I can't think of a better cast for Deadpool after watching this movie.

However, the movie does lack in depth in terms of storyline as it is too simple and focuses on the origin story of how Wade Wilson becomes Deadpool. But the movie compensates with ridiculous and hilarious jokes and humour that only the Merc with a Mouth can pull it off. A word of advice when coming to watch this movie, don't be late.... The first few minutes was fucking hilarious!

The movie also made the connection between Deadpool and the X-Men Universe with the appearance of Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead trying to recruit Deadpool for the X-Men. We can expect more X-Men-Deadpool crossover in the future. MCU will need to compete with the X-Men Cinematic Universe.

I can say that Deadpool's breaking the 4th wall makes this movie different than any other superhero movies. The amount of action in the movie is satisfiying (I'm looking at you Fantastic Four reboot!). You can expect Mr Stan Lee to have a sick cameo in this movie! Overall, this movie exceeds my expectation for a Marvel movie from 20th Century Fox. Every adults must go and watch this movie!

Another advice out there to the parents, please don't complain about the sexual, profanity and violence in the movies being unsuitable for childrens. The movie is rated 18SX/SG for fucks sake!!! Do not take the fun away from others just because you got butthurt.

P/S: Wait for the post-credits...

Have a dirty gore fun people! CHIMI-FUCKING-CHANGAS!!!!

Travel: Krabi Part 2

Hi all,

Day 2: Saturday (23/01/2016)

Woke up at 6.00 pm and get ready for breakfast. The view at 6.30 am in Krabi is brighter than at home.

We went down to the hotel's coffee house for breakfast which starts at 7.00 am. We are excited for island hopping today.

The tour van pick us up at 8.00 pm to check in our island hopping speedboats which is at Aonang Beach. The pick up is part of most island hopping tour offered in Krabi.

Checked in!

Many boats getting ready to go on their trips...

Two modes of transport: speedboat (left) and longtail (right)

Divas everywhere...

And we're sailin' in the scorchin' sun...

I swear, my phone nearly flew off...hahaha

Prepping his underwater gadgets...

So many beautiful views...

The first stop is Railay Island to pick up more passengers for the island hopping. Railay Island has a resort for anyone who wants to have a more secluded vacation.

Lots of boats also picking up passengers...

We're moving again. This time to the first location, Phra Nang Cave Beach

Phra Nang Cave Beach is the best and spot for you to explore and swim. The island has a few chalets and even a cafe by the beach. The beach is basically on the other side of the Railay island. It is famous for it's cave. This is one of the place rock climbers come to.

Big sandy beach...

Chalets on the island...

Best picture I have taken so far...

Good spot for a swim...

The water is nice...

The Phra Nang Cave...

Do you see it?

Perhaps now?

The water near the cave is cool and calm...Nice for swimming...

I don't think I will ever be up for this...

The next stop is near Chicken Island (Koh Gai) where we will be doing open sea snorkeling. I am very excited for this. My first time ever snorkeling. There are not many variety of fishes here. But there is a lot of the same fish. The water is quite calm although we heard that there were warnings of tall waves later in the evening.

More like Turkey Island!

The open seas...

You can check out my brother's vlog HERE. He is bound to upload his Krabi trip videos soon...

After a good snorkeling, time for lunch. We will be having lunch at Poda Island (Koh Poda). It is basically an island best for a picnic. It has large beaches with trees for shades. It is also good for swimming but you would probably be either too hungry or too full for a swim. As you reach the island, you need to pay the park ranger 400 Baht per person as entry fee to all the 4 Islands. Lunch was provided as part of the island hopping package. We had rice with minced chicken (forgot the Thai name) and fishcakes.

Trees for cooling down...

People just hanging out..

Beautiful trees...

Many boats stop for lunch...

Walking around while waiting for lunch...

The island has a small shop selling junk food and drinks...

Lunch!

Getting our lunch...

Walking by the beach after lunch. Collecting shells for my sister...

A weird attempt by my sister, Aifaa using panoramic camera mode...

We found this on the island. Is Google here?

The last stop of our island hopping package is the Sand Bank which connects two islands during low tide, Tup Island (Koh Tub) and Mor Island (Koh Mor). The sand here is coarser than any of the beaches. There are a lot of fishes just by the beaches during low tide. There are also corals on the beaches which are nests for crabs.

Playing with sand...

Swimming of course!

Scorching hot!!!

That was the end of our island hopping trip. We arrived at our hotel around 3.00 pm. Aifaa and I decided to go on a walk around Aonang. Aizat and Anne was too tired so we left them to rest at the hotel.

Aonang Beach in the evening reminds me of Gurney... but with less malls...

We had Thai pancakes which is basically 'roti canai' with fillings. That is mango pancake.

A lot of souvenir and currency exchange booths...

A lot of drug stores (pharmacies) in Krabi.

Tuk Tuk used to take tourists to the beach

Songtaew are another mode of transport in Krabi

Swordfish monument is quite new to Aonang...

Helping out the statue...by holding his shoulders?

Huge...

We went back to the hotel at 5.00 pm to rest for a while. The van we booked came at 6.00 pm to pick us up to Krabi Town to experience the Krabi Walking Street Night Market.

Songtaew fetching people in Aonang...probably to go to the Krabi night market

One of the larger mosques in Aonang

View of the mountains on the way to Krabi town

Tourists travelling via Songtaew...

It took around 30 minutes to reach Krabi Town from Aonang. When we reached the night market, it was 7.00 pm and the sky is almost night.

Arriving near the night market...

A girl dancing Thai traditional dance in the street...

A lot of souvenirs and other shops

Tourists painting a pre-drawn drawings by street artists

Seafood!

Bought my dinner...Grilled Saba...

Yam bean and dried shrimps...It was quite good....

Fried taro roots...Taste like... well... nothing...

Street Performer on stage...

Coconut ice-cream is something you must try!

Oysters at the ready!

Where I got your souvenirs...hihi...

Souvenirs...

Very interesting arts... Each 450 Baht... My brother bought one of John Lennon for 400 Baht...

Good for collectors...

Variety of sarong and clothes...

It is not complete if you don't buy 'I LOVE' t-shirts on vacation...

The van picked us up as planned at 9.00 pm. We bought a lot of souvernirs to bring home for our friends. We reached the hotel at 9.30 pm and had dinner that we bought at the market in our rooms. We were very tired after a very satisfying day. We packed our bags to sort out the newly bought items for our flight home tomorrow.

Day 2: Sunday (24/01/2016)

We woke as usual around 6.00 pm and went for breakfast at 7.00 pm at the coffee house. After that we just rested at the hotel as there is not much time to do anything since we will be checking out of the hotel and go to the airport very soon.

We checked out at 10.00 pm and the van was already waiting to take us to the airport.

Gonna miss the view...

All of us with our newly bought t-shirts...

Goodbye Aonang...

We arrived at the airport around 11.00 pm and check-in for the flight. We managed to buy a few more souvenirs at the airport. We waited for around 30 minutes before our boarding at 12.00 pm.

So many people at the airport...

The airport not as comfy as Penang's...No air condition...It was hot!

Boarding our plane...

Take off!

Goodbye Krabi!

We reached Penang around 2.40 pm Malaysia time. Our parents were there to pick us up. They were very hungry. We're not cause it is only like 1.40 pm to us. We had our lunch at Kayu Nasi Kandar and went back home.

Thanks for reading my entry of our trips to Krabi. We recommend everyone to visit Krabi! I will continue to posts more travel/adventures when I got the chance to go elsewhere!
